MLMS Launches Live Talk Show Series: Make it Make Sense

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

18th October, LONDON - My Life My Say launched its first ever live talk show event Make It Make Sense at the Plexal, HERE East, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Focused on distilling hot topics of the day with special guests from across the world of business, culture and politics the monthly talk show will be streamed on My Life My Say’s Instagram Live and made available on our website and YouTube channel.

Make it Make Sense aims to break down the most pressing topics and to amplify the voices of change-makers to make political and social issues more fun and accessible to young people.

The Make It Make Sense series will be hosted by the prominent host and presenter Swarzy Macaly, featuring across BBC Sounds and 4Music, who has set the bar high with her highly contagious energy.

October’s episode was dedicated to black excellence in the UK in honour of Black History Month, with the following panel of black business owners:

  • Edinah Chewe - graphic designer and founder of Wildlogic, an intuitive-led creative space aiming to make a socially positive impact in society

  • Aji Akokomi - Founder, Akoko Restaurant, West African-inspired restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia

  • Jayann Lopez - CEO and Founder, Black Girl Gamers

Our inspiring panellists shared with the audience their experience building their companies as disruptors in their respective industries, what Black History Month means to them, and what we could all do to increase Black representation in their related disciplines and in wider life.

We reached over 1,900 young viewers over Instagram Live and the team was accompanied by My Life My Say friends, from our trustees to our Young Leaders and partners, which made the launch even more special.

Commenting following the show, Mete Coban, CEO of My Life My Say, said: “I’m super excited about this new series and proud its launch has been a real success. My Life My Say is going from strength to strength. Dedicating Make it Make Senses’ launch on black excellence in the UK builds on the great work that we’ve been doing over the pandemic to engage with young people through our popular Quarantine Question Time series. There will be many more instalments as we make it make sense so stay tuned!”

My Life My Say (MLMS) is a youth-led, non-partisan charity on a mission to empower young people to participate in democracy, by creating spaces for dialogue across communities and generations, and by providing young and socially excluded citizens with the tools to lead change within society.
