MLMS partners with the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB)
My Life My Say is delighted to announce our new partnership with the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) to launch our young leaders programme. The programme is designed to help equip young people from Turkish-speaking backgrounds with the skills required to lead change within their communities.
Our primary goal is to facilitate the young leaders’ growth and professional development by engaging them in specified training days in London and providing a range of experts to aid their training and discuss their future endeavours.
The successful candidates will be invited to come to London to commence their training as young leaders. Candidates will be required to attend training sessions which will be held between October 2020 and March 2021.
During the programme, the young leaders will have the opportunity to help facilitate conversations which will be a taster of what will be expected of them when they conduct their own Democracy Cafes in their communities. They will also have the opportunity to facilitate conversations at the Common Futures Forum in November 2021.
This programme will give young people the opportunity to have a voice, create change and to be a leader in their own right. There is always going to be something political that creates a reason for talks to be held whether that be Brexit, climate change, education, social justice, how we rebuild society post-Covid-19 and many more. This is why we have decided to create this leadership programme to give young people across the UK the tools to influence their communities and bring people together to discuss matters that are of importance.
This programme will select 20 community-minded rising stars from around the UK for a one-year training scheme facilitated by My Life My Say. As part of the programme, the chosen young leaders will receive training on the following:
My Life My Say, Chief Executive, Mete Coban MBE said: “I’m deeply excited to launch this new programme which is similar to our usual young leaders programme but will be tailored for people of Turkish-speaking backgrounds. This is a great opportunity for young people who are looking to become the leaders of tomorrow!”
Abdullah Eren, President of YTB said: “As Turkish diaspora living in the UK, we have a great potential due to our large and young population. However, to activate this potential, we need young people to take more active roles in the society they live in. I believe that this programme will provide an opportunity for our young people who study and live in the UK, to represent the Turkish community in the UK, to occupy prominent positions in many areas of public interest. The programme will provide indispensable skills to the Turkish youth through leading experts in lobbying, fundraising, social media, advocacy and campaigning. I strongly recommend that Turkish youth living in the UK apply to this programme."
